Jun Daiko performs the art of taiko, or Japanese drumming. In addition to traditional Japanese music, modern rhythms and other ethnic influences are incorporated into the Jun Daiko repertoire. Jun Daiko is based in Mountain View, CA and was founded by a gathering of friends who began to practice informally in 2005. The group was officially established in 2007, and takes its name from the Japanese character used in the phrase “meguri ai,” which means “a fortuitous, chance meeting” or “coming full circle”. In addition to public performances, Jun Daiko supports the taiko program Mountain View Buddhist Temple by teaching classes for youth and adults.
Jun Daiko is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
